The brief called for the conceptual design of the 'Visitor Centre World Heritage Regensburg' on two levels of the 'Salzstadel', a listed medieval building located in front of the world famous 'Steinerne Brücke'. Additionally a second escape route for the upper floors had to be provided by way of a staircase running through all floors.

The design respects the Salzstadel as a historic monument and as an integrated part of the UNESCO-World Heritage 'Regensburg mit Stadtamhof'. One of the essential criteria is to reconstitute the spatial quality of the interior space. On the ground floor cabinets that are suspended from the ceiling structure the space into various sections by exhibition topic. The floor can be experienced as one continuous surface. The event area is located on the lower floor and provides multifunctional space for various events such as special exhibitions, group meetings and lectures with its flexible furniture.
